Basketball
Queensway has a strong tradition of talented basketball players and dedicated coaches. We compete in the PSAA, ROPSSAA and at the OFSAA provincial level, offering programs that stress fundamentals, fun, lots of practice and good sportsmanship. This "Front Porch" program is often the way the outside world will get to know our school and we always try to display the importance of playing hard while maintaining a positive witness for Christ.
Outstanding teams include the 1996-2001 Senior Girls team that went to OFSAA five years in a row. Lead by Joni Allardyce, Bethany Hazzard and Kerrie James (Point guard at Kent State), the Lady Saints were seeded #2 in Ontario.
Other outstanding players to wear the QCC uniform include: Kim Hall, Lisa Blair, Jackie Belsher, Laura Alfred, Cathy Bowen and Nadine Wilson.
Our Boys teams have been an important part of our tradition. With the leadership of Coaches Allardyce and Lackey they continue to love the game. We have had some outstanding young men as part of our program.
Cross Country
The Queensway Saints have a long tradition of starting off each year with Cross Country. This laid a solid foundation for fitness, team unity and hard work that helped in many of our other sports. We have had several runners go to the OFSAA Provincial Championships. (Cory Bechthold, Robin Bailey, Jon Rutledge, Jeff Verstrate, Ron Bublies and Emily Smethurst went 3 times.) Other teams have competed at the Middle School meets and at ROPSAA.
Track and Field
Perhaps more than any of our other sports QCC has been blessed with some tremendous talent in Track and Field. We have had over 25 Peel Champions in hurdles events with 2 OFSAA medallists Valerie Tulloch (who won 3 NCAA titles at Rice University and still holds the Canadian Women’s all time record in the Javelin) and Kerrie James. Nadine Wilson and Mark Cassidy qualified for OFSAA 4 times each. Other outstanding hurdlers include: Sven Chung, Cory Bechthold, Deirdre Morgan, Mike Dasko, April Crosse and Tashica Miller. We have had some outstanding throwers win Peel titles and compete at the provincials also: Phil Barker, Val Tulloch, Angela Cioffi, Nadene Hamilton, Cathy Bowen and Cleigh Pottinger 4 times.
Volleyball
It was the late Mike Wong, an outstanding volleyball coach who began the QCC volleyball program in the mid-1980’s. His teams were always very strong in the fundamentals. Although we have not fielded teams every year, our Lady Saints did win a ROPSSA "A" Championship in 1996 and made it to the Provincial OFSAA Championship
Soccer
This is one of our most popular team sports. Boys and girls teams compete at the Middle School and High School level. Our High School Boys went to OFSAA last year. Thanks to Coach Stein!
Tennis
Queensway tennis teams have played in the ACSI, DPAA and ROPSSA leagues. We have had one Peel Champion, Cathy Bowen, who played at Lee University in Tennessee and made it to the NCAA Tournament. Peter Ollen and Tim Bentley won medals at the Peel Tournament.
Wrestling
Although it has been several years since we have had a wrestling team we have fond memories of our hard working grapplers. Keith Rieger, Sven Chung, Brent Uemura and Brent Fellman all won medals or Peel Championships.
Floor Hockey, Touch Football, Baseball, Intramurals
These sports are offered at the Middle School and some years in the high School. Intramurals and Electives are held weekly and include Staff-Student teams.
