Our Alumni

We are very proud of our Alumni. They are making a difference in their families, neighbourhoods, churches and places of business, in the medical field, science and technology, law and as pastors, teachers and missionaries. Graduates like Ian Wick, a lawyer, April Crosse who graduated from Waterloo in Engineering then received her MBA at the Harvard School of Business, and Mary Aziz a third year medical student at the University of Toronto and Pastors Pat Franklin and Peter Bock are some of our alumni making that difference. Read the following stories to find out more.

April Crosse / Graduated 1990

Pursuit of Excellence

April Crosse attended Queensway Christian College for 12 years. Along with achieving academic excellence she was the consummate student-athlete as an OFSAA hurdler and ROPSSAA champion. Upon completion of her high school diploma, she was only 16 years old.

She continued this trend and earned her undergraduate degree with honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where she also competed as a varsity track and field athlete, in the hurdles. Receiving her MBA from Harvard Business School was the next academic achievement. This inevitably led to the next part of her life journey as a management consultant at A.T. Kearney in Atlanta, Georgia for four years. April has also worked in marketing and sales for the Fortune Group at Time Inc. Presently, she is Manager of Merchandise Planning for Neiman Marcus Stores, located in Dallas, Texas. In this capacity she is responsible for advertising, financial planning, forecasting and reporting for sixteen locations nationwide.

Always in pursuit of excellence she has made her mark in the business world. Integrity and learning good values were part of her high school education reinforced in the academic and spiritual life at Queensway Christian College.

Patrick Franklin / Graduated 1994

Making a Difference

When Patrick attended Queensway, he took advantage of all the opportunities that a smaller school had to offer and was involved in music, sports, drama, leadership and a mission trip to Cuba. In his words, ”Basically, my time at Queensway was a huge confidence builder. Teachers stretched my faith and built into me and really helped me to “come into myself. For me, my time at Queensway was a crucial transition point in my life and identity as a Christian."

From there Patrick did his undergraduate work at Sir Wilfred Laurier. His interest in the ministry was growing through these years and upon graduation he continued his education at Tyndale Seminary completing a Masters of Divinity. During the next segment of his life he married Elena, worked in the ministry and then pursued a Masters in Theology at Regent College in British Columbia.

At this point he is a full-time pastor at Chartwell Baptist Church in Oakville. This gives him the opportunity to use his many talents in various aspects of the ministry and to make a difference in the lives of those around him in particular the university students. His interest in education has definitely not diminished. If anything he enjoys thinking about the nature of church and its future in North America and plans to pursue a PhD in the near future.

Kerrie Anne James

Super Athlete

As a young girl in Grade 1, Kerrie watched her older sister Janelle play basketball for the Queensway Saints. Even at that young age, we all knew she would be a special young lady. Kerrie is that rare combination of speed, strength and motor ability. She went to OFSAA four years in a row, in both basketball and track. Kerrie was the #1 seeded hurdler in Ontario and earned the Bronze medal.

Kerrie was a student who made a career of doing the best she could possibly do in all areas of the curriculum. Whether it was Science, English, Art or Physical Education, second best was never good enough for her. She was a model for other students to follow in all aspects.

After high school, where she captained the Provincial Gold Medal team in the JDP Tournament and was a Metro Toronto All-Star, she was rewarded with an athletic scholarship to Kent State University in Ohio. She was a starter and has played both the point and 2 guard positions on the Basketball team. As she enters her junior season, equivalent to her third year at a Canadian university, she is poised to let her amazing speed and determination really take over.
